Clinton snubs Thatcher

According to Hillary Clinton’s latest book  “Margaret Thatcher did not deserve a place in the book about history’s gutsiest women because she failed to make a positive difference for others”

The former first Lady is touring the UK promoting  “ “The Book of Gutsy Women: Favourite Stories of Courage and Resilience” , which she co-wrote with daughter Chelsea.

Ms Clinton said “ Although Mrs Thatcher was strong and clever women she doesn’t fit the other part of the definition in our opinion, which really is knocking barriers  for others and trying to make a positive difference.

Margaret Thatcher the Iron Lady and daughter of greengrocer who rose become Britain’s first female prime minister, won three elections and oversaw economic revolution  remains the divisive figure in Britain in some quarter, particularly her legacy of pushing back against trade unions and her free-market reforms to British economy and faced down the USSR was excluded.

The book written with her daughter Chelsea Clinton includes profiles of women including Harriet Tubman, Malala Yousafzai, Rachel Crason and swimmer Diana Nyad.
