Comic Kevin Bishop “does” Nigel Farage
Impressionist and actor Kevin Bishop had to chainsmoke to develop the rasping voice of Nigel Farage for a soon to be shown comedy made by the BBC. Bishop said, “If you don’t have a rasp in your voice – which I don’t normally – you just can’t do it no matter how good an impersonator you are.” In “Nigel Gets his Life Back” – a mockumentary the story shows Farage’s capers after he stepped down in the EU referendum.
Now fascinated by Farage, Bishop originally hated him, especially as he is one of many devastated by Brexit. He has now warmed to him and feels more admiration for him than for other politicians.
Bishop said the hardest thing he found about doing Farage was the voice and after doing him, his own voice became very “croaky”. Smoking 20 cigarettes a day helped! Look out for the BBC show soon.
