Coronavirus: Stars in One World Together At Home Concert
Beatles and Rolling Stones appearing on the same show into your living room “One World Together At Home Concert”. Taylor Swift gave an emotional performance of her ballad Soon You’ll Get Better sat against the pastel-coloured floral backdrop of the piano room in her house, originally written as a memoir of Swift’s grief over her mother’s cancer diagnois.
Lady Gaga, Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Steve Wonder, Elton John, with proceeds generated from the concert will go to the Covid-19 Solidarity response Fund for the WHO. One Direction star Niall Horan singing Black and White with an acoustic guitar from his living room and former bandmate Liam Payne appeared with the song Midnight.
“It’s a pretty dark time for us all right now… and I feel we’re all being brought a lot closer together by this solidarity,” he said.
The Rolling Stones sang You Can’t Always Get What You Want – despite drummer Charlie Watts being reduced to banging on flight cases and the arm of a sofa, in the absence of his drum kit.
Rita Ora urged viewers to stay safe and follow WHO recommendations, before singing I Will Never Let You Down.
Ellie Goulding and Christine and The queens also addressed the mental health issues arising from the coronavirus lockdown, urging viewers to reach out to friends if they were felling low.
Jeenifer Lopes, also sang, and Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, John Legend collaborating on a version of The Prayer originally written for the 1998 film Quest For Camelot whose lyrics seek a way out of the darkness.
British artists like Little Mix, Sir Tom Jones and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, additional footage from the main concert will be available on BBC iPlayer for 30 days.
