DAMES WHO RAISE THE GOALPOSTS! – a look at what makes the British titter

Barry Humphries – AO, CBE – born in Australia, with Manchester parentage, is equally or rather more well known as Dame Edna Everage, Sir Les Patterson, and a few other aliases – information on that later. He is currently with his fourth wife and has two sons and two daughters – fully grown as the frisky ridiculously funny “Dame” is now aged 81. He is a phenomenon who has never been beaten or even truly imitated in his splendidly outrageous performances in his comedy roles. He writes his own material and was born in Melbourne, where he studied Law and Arts.  He had a big interest in the Dada movement and made Dadaist recordings known as “WUBBO”. That is a pseudo-aboriginal word for “Nothing”. His first incarnation whilst a student was as a surburban housewife “Mrs Norm”.
