Death of an Italian prince
Twenty-one year old Italian prince Filippo Corsini cycling to a his college at Regent’s University, London succumbed to his catastrophic injuries killed on Monday 31st October 2016, after colliding with a lorry and was caught under the wheel of a lorry near the One Hyde Park development at Knightsbridge and was dragged 30 yards across a box junction He is the eight cyclist killed this year in London roads despite cycle super highways.
Scores of friends left tributes at the scene of the accident.
Corsini was from Florentine family that traces its roots to the middle ages and has Pope Clement XII (1730-1740) as an ancestor.
His parents, runs, Duccio and Clothilde, run an oil and wine business and were waiting for him to join for a family holiday on their Tuscan estate south of Florence, when they learned about the tragic death of their son.
Corsini’s uncle Count Niccolo Branca said “ Corsini despite his wealth was down-to-earth and had worked as a dishwasher and waiter and made a huge impression when he came to work at his vineyard in Argentina. Corsini’s two sisters and an aunt wre expected to travel to the UK in the next few days. A memorial mass was being held at Brompton Oratory in Kensington this morning.
The 42-year-old lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of death by careless driving and has been bailed. Lucia Ciccioli, another Italian waitress was killed in Battersea in a crash involving another lorry.
