Dhanawade propels to 1009 runs not out in one innings and set world record
Fifteen-year-old Indian cricketer Pranav Dhanawade of KC Gandhi School, scored 1,009 runs not out off 323 balls, in a single innings to set a new world record in school cricket HT Bhandari Cup Inter-school tournament at the Union Cricket Academy ground in Kalyan, Mumbai. He broke the previous record of 628 not out, set by Arthur EJ Collins in 1899 on Monday 4th January 2016.
He achieved this feat by smashing 59 sixes and 129 fours in 395 minutes before his tea, declared the innings at 1, 465/3, against Arya Gurukul School. Mumbai School cricket is highly competitive and has in the past produced legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma.
Pranav from humble background, started playing cricket from the age of five with his father auto-rickshaw driver, encouraged him to play cricket with such concentration and focus. Pranav, a wicket-keeper and hard hitting batsman has been coached by Mobin Sheikh. He admitted he was ready for international cricket, but intended to first play in the under-19 state team. He has dreams of becoming a cricketer like Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Pranav’s school KC Gandhi went past the previous 1926 international record of Victoria’s 1, 107 against New South Wales.
