Fire at 38th floor Sushi Samba Heron Tower!
SUSHI SAMBA restaurant had to be evacuated after a fire broke out on the 38th floor
London Fire Brigade were called to Heron Tower, 110 Bishopsgate, EC2N 4AY, just before 2am
on 6th June 2015, Saturday morning
when a fire broke out under the floor of the Sushi Samba’s smoking terrace. The outdoor space
which has panoramic stunning views of the City of London, was spoiled by a blazing cigarette
enjoyed by one of the guests that failed inflamed into full fire and 200 hundred patrons had to
walk down 38 flights of stairs in the early hours of the morning.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “We believe that the fire was caused by a carelessly discarded
cigarette igniting dried leaves, both entering the void underneath the floor and via gaps around the edge of
the paving slabs.” “It’s absolutely vital you ensure your cigarette is completely out when you’ve finished smoking it.”
Although, Six fire engines and 35 firefighters rushed to tackle the fire, the alert restaurant staff had already put out
the fire before they arrived.
The Brigade was stood down at 2.37pm.
