FOOD ON YOUR MIND? TRY LITTLE PERSIA LONDON W2
Queensway tube is popular for Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens/Palace as well as for Queensway itself and Whiteleys which sports a super cinema as well as an array of very pleasing stores. Very near Queensway tube and nestling in a row of eateries and shops is Little Persia at number 38 with a welcome facility for people who want to eat al fresco so that they can smoke a bubble pipe after their meal, for example. It’s a little bit of a cut above. The service and attention diners receive is surprisingly swift and helpful and we did not need to wait long before we were given baglava to fill a gap before olives – not cheap at £4.50 but excessively better than many olives you may savour, and then our main courses with some of the most perfect rice available – totally fluffy and dry and a pleasure to eat along with Khoresht Gheimeh and Kabab Chenjeh, the lamb being so tender and flavoursome it was a delight. Though it was a weekday myself and friend found the place full of people with laughter in the air. To accompany our meal we chose a bottle of house white wine which at £18 is what you can expect when in a restaurant of the calibre of Little Persia. We then chose to have a hookah/Shisha/bubble pipe which seemed to be why several of the diners were seated outside under a divine looking canopy. We had apple tobacco in it and it lasted for a long time!! Despite the fairly close fit of diners, the waiters hovered and weaved their way between tables highly effectively and a good evening was had by all. There is a 12.5% cover charge on bills and without the shisha the total price was £45.50. Of course a meal for two would come down considerably if you just had water and missed either the olives or Baglava, but even so, this price for a lovely evening out is not expensive for London and the experience is far superior to many eateries you might frequent, so a very definite thumbs up to Little Persia. Je reviens.
