Former London Mayor Livingstone fights pro air-strike lobby
Ken Livingstone has said he would support challenging and possibly replacing Labour members who voted for military interference in Syria. Anti-war lobbyists have abused those members of the party who voted pro-air strikes. One group posted a list of 66 Labour war-mongers immediately after the voting on air strikes. This includes Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy whose constituency was targeted by activists.
Jeremy Corbyn – Leader of the Labour Party’s own right hand man described Tony Benn’s son Hilary’s pro- war speech as similar to Tony Blair’s call for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Some supporters of the war even tried to intimate they thought Benn would be a good leader of the opposition. Others think they should work closely together.
Frank Field has identified that “Jeremy’s views are very popular in the country”. Corbyn’s anti-war policy is a way forward harking back to a few decades ago when Greenham Common was active and the population of the UK were striving for a way forward without war on the agenda. He has given a sense of decency, democracy and fair play to the Labour party and those who ridicule him should probably have a long and very hard think about decrying his views as lightweight and take on board that voting and crying for war offers the majority the least protection and the few the most……
