FRAUDULENT MARRIAGES IN UK ON THE RISE

MARRIAGEVictims of fraudsters who con the English into fake marriages are complaining that Theresa May does not do enough to bring them to heel for what they have done. Despite over 1,000 cases being reported  in the past year not one person has been brought to book. Over 20 cases are being reported per week  at present.  Kim Sow who runs Immigration Fraud UK was herself conned and left divorced and £50,000 in debt. Of her Senegalese husband, she said “I thought it was love in his eyes but it was pound signs”. She set up Marriage Fraud UK with another victim, Delene Alouane who lost £150,000 to her Tunisian ex.  They have had several hundred people come forward saying they have been duped by potential partners.

Fraudsters often claim half of the UK partner’s home by adding their name to the property they share by the Land Registry without their spouse’s knowledge.  They also commit other fraud using partner’s credit cards and rack up unsecured loans. They stay married until they can remain in the UK indefinitely or acquire citizenship then go through with a divorce.

The Home Office Immigration Minister James Brokenshire  recently insisted they are tightening the rules on marrying foreign partners.
