Freight train derailment disrupts services but no injuries
Northern Rail said services hd either been cancelled or were being diverted all day, across the north of after a freight train has derailed in Sheffield.
The “low speed derailment” happened north of the city’s station, meaning trains are unable to run through the city. Services run by CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Northern and Transpennine Express are affected. According to British Transport Police no one had been injured in the derailment.
East Midlands Railway, whose routes operates between Liverpool Lime Street and Norwich, said buses were being sourced to shuttle passengers between Chesterfield and Sheffield.
