Gold Tourbillon timepiece sold for £1.6bn
A 19th-century gold Tourbillon timepiece made by watchmaking genius Abraham Louis Breguet, that once belonged to King George III has sold for a record £1.6m after a for way bidding war at Sotheby’s in London.
The ultimate buyer was although attended the auction remained anonymous.
The French celebrity watchmaker with clients including Napoleon never got fully paid for the watch which was ordered during the Napoleonic Wars, despite sending reminders.
