Virat Kohli’s 100 not out went in vain. Royal Challengers Bangalore thought after putting up 180 they could win. But Gujarat Lions had other idea, and had to work together, and work as perfectly as possible on slow Rajkot pitch. Bren McCullum and Dwayne Smith thrashed 72 runs in the Powerplay, a record for the season. Suresh Raina and Dinesh Karthik contributed a century stand using the long boundaries of the stadium. Royal Challengers had a chance to remove Karthik in the 18th over, Kane Richarson, send a slower ball which he was unable to hold on to the return catch. Karthik went on to make 50 not out off 39.
