Hotels, Pubs, Restaurants, cinemas, haircuts to reopen In England from 4 July
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tells MPs that restaurants, pubs, hairdressers and hotels will reopen in England from 4 July as the 2m social distancing rule is being reduced to 1m plus.
In Hotels empty minibars, buffet-free breakfasts and regular deep cleaning are among the measures being introduced by one of the biggest operators in England as it prepares to reopen at the start of July. Almost all paperwork will be removed from the rooms, along with phone while the plastic pouch containing tea and coffee sachets will be quarantined for 72 hours between guests.
“People will want to reconnect with friends, they will want to visit places. Leisure or tourism is the first one which is going to come back, hence why it is crucial that we can start opening before the summer.” A bigger concern for hotels and the wider tourism industry is the government’s quarantine restrictions under which visitors to the UK are required to self-isolate for two weeks,
Cinemas, museums and other attractions will also reopen but not close proximity venue like indoor gyms, Spa.
A further 171 people who tested positive with coronavirus have died in the UK, taking the total to 42, 927, as 874 positive cases identified in the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
Two households in England will also be able to meet indoors and stay overnight with social distancing. The prime minister, however, warned that all these steps were reversible.
Indoor gyms, swimming pools, nail bars and indoor play areas are among the list of businesses that will remain closed, as they have been since lockdown began on 23rd March.
Mr Johnson said the “national hibernation” was beginning to end, and life is returning to our streets but warned the virus was still not defeated and vigilance was required.
He said: “Our principle is to trust the British public to use their common sense in the full knowledge of the risks, remembering the more we open up, the more vigilant we need to be”.
Hotels, holiday apartments, campsites and caravan parks but shared facilities must be cleaned properly.
Theatres and music halls will not be allowed to hold live performances.
Weddings will be allowed to have 30 attendees and places of worship will be allowed to hold services but singing will be banned.
Hair Salons and barbers will be able to open but must put protective measures such as visors in place.
Libraries, community centres and bingo halls can reopen.
Cinemas, museums and galleries, Funfairs, theme parks, adventure parks, amusement arcades, skating rinks and model villages can reopen.
Indoor attractions where animals are exhibited such as zoos, aquariums, farms, safari parks and wildlife centres can reopen.
Nightclubs, casinos, Bowling alleys, indoor skating rinks, indoor play areas including soft-play, spas, nail bars, beauty salons, massage, tattoo and piercing parlours, indoor fitness and dance studios, indoor gyms and sports venues/facilities, swimming pools, water parks, exhibition or conference centres – other than for those who work for that venue cannot open.
There are now just over 1, 000 new cases a day on average compared to 100, 000 at the peak at the end of March.
