When India were in deep trouble at 186-6 in reply Australia’s first innings formidable total of 369, but Shardul Takur and Washington Sundar put on 123 for the seventh wicket.
Australia openers David Warner and Marcus Harris survived an awkward 20 minutes scoring 21 with out any loss of wicket, late on another fascinating day.
India had been plagued with injuries in a thrilling series as only three of their team in this test started the first but now have a fair chance of retaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy, as they need only to draw the Brisbane Test. Rain is forecast to interrupt play on the final two days at the Gabba.
