Match 4 : India 300-7 (50 overs) Kholi 107, S Khan 5-55; Pakistan 224 (47 overs) Misbah 76, Shami 4-38; India won by 76 runs Adelaide Oval.

The score is 6-0 to India in World Cup matches against Pakistan, and one of the most heartening win to kick off their campaign.

Out of form, India, the defending champion, who had not won
any competitive game in Australia, for nearly three months, including a four-Test series and a tri-series that also included England, boosted their World cup campaign with a resounding win over Pakistan. After Rohit Sharma’s early dismissal, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan added 129 in just 134 balls. But Kohli early on the innings, decided to play a controlled innings, as he left the power play for others. Suresh Raina and Kohli took the game away from Pakistan in the middle overs, adding 110 in just 93 balls. Although, Raina’s contribution was twice that of Kohli and he eventually departed shortly after the centurion for 74 from 56 balls. Pakistan’s Captain’s magnificent Misbah-ul-Haq, who fought till the end with a valiant 84-ball 76 was in vain. Ahmed Shehzad and Haris Sohail both started brightly, but their failure to rotate the strike as skillfully and cleverly as India’s Mahendra Dhoni’s clever shuffling of his bowlers, had resulted in piling up the pressure, once Ravichandran Ashwin started with two maidens in his first three overs.  Dhoni, however hoped, sunday’s World Cup win over Pakistan will mark as a bench mark for the rest of the tournament for his team. “We should not forget that Pakistan has a better overall record than us. They are a fantastic side and it is never easy to beat them. It certainly is not a normal game when India and Pakistan play. It is emotionally draining for everyone. But we can’t afford to rest on one win. There is a lot of room for improvement.”

Pakistan, regrets dropping Kohli twice – a difficult chance on the boundary when he had made just three and a caught-behind opportunity when he had 76 . Pakistan, winners when the tournament was last held in Australia and New Zealand 23 years ago.
