Iran bans porn
Iran blocked pornography with their censorship laws on adult websites and when they did so not only for those in Iran but for people across the world including Russia and Hong Kong.
Iran’s government tried to ban porn and enforcing them accidentally knocked more than 250X-rated sites offline.
The ban was result of the way that the internet provider cut off access to those sites. It did so using some elementary mechanisms of the web not just stopping people in Iran accessing the websites, but by accidently changing the directions that power the internet so that nobody else could.
The Iranian internet provider changed the road signs of the internet by using BGP hacking technique. by pointing anyone looking for any of a list of 256 0to the wrong place which means their computer wouldn’t be able to find the proper way to those pages. Any other computer will see the same fake route as an easy shortcut to the website it is looking for. That applies to computers in Iran and other major internet providers like India’s Bharati Airtel, Russia’s RETN, Indonesia’s Telekomunikasi and Hong Kong’s Hutchinson.
Bans on internet pornography are growing in use across the world, with countries including the UK looking at ways of limiting and censoring the websites that their internet users can access. The digital economy bill will give the British film classification agency the powers to police pornography in Great Britain.
