Kevin Anderson shock Roger Federer to reach Semi-final
Defending champion Roger Federer out of Wimbledon as eight seeded South African Kevin Anderson (36) fights back from two sets down.
Top seed Federer missed a point in the third set as the South African recovered to win 2-6, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 6-4, 13-11 in four hours and 13 minutes.
Kevin Anderson will meet Canada’s Milos Raonic or American John Isner in his first Wimbledon semi-final.
Roger Federer, eight-time champion was aiming to equal Martina Navratilova’s all-time record.
Anderson continued to grow in confidence and stature as the match progressed holding his nerve to earn his first win over Federer in five attempts..
It’s the first time in 85 games that Federer had lost his serve – the previous occasion being against Tomas Berdych in last year’s Wimbledon Semi-final.
