King of the Road claims his fifth world F1 title
Lewis Hamilton (33), the Mercedes mastero celebrates winning the Formula One driver’s championship at the Mexican Grand Prix. He’s now a five-time world champion and has won 31.28 per cent of the races he has entered.
Lewis Hamilton claimed it was “surreal” to join the F1 legends with his fifth World title.
Although Hamilton finished fourth in the Mexican Grand Prix after suffering tyre problems, he just needed to finish in the top seven to draw level with Juan Manuel Fangio’s haul.
Seven-time champion Michael Schumacher is now the only man with more titles.
Hamilton said: “I dreamed of this but never thought in a million years that I would be a five-time champion. It’s just weird. I have been with Mercedes since I was 13 so to complete this is an incredible feeling and very surreal at the moment”.
