Kylie Jenner becomes world’s youngest billionaire
21-year-old Kylie Jenner has become the world’s youngest self-made billionaire according to Forbe’s billionaires’ list. The youngest Kardashian family member made her fortune from her best-selling cosmetics business promoted by Instagram postings with over 128m followers. She made her announcement ” I wanted to remind you guys that my powders launch on Thursday” and proceeded to post 21 stories, 15 second videos to Instagram promoting her latest lip glosses. Ms Jenner exploited Snapchat where she found her audience, teenage girls and became a”Generation Z” star. She is now worth three times her older sister Kim as her making brand has grown. Kylie Costmetics, which started selling a small range of lipsticks and lipliners in 2015, Forbes values the company for which Ms Jenner is the CEO, chief marketing officer and chief content officer, at $900m and money made from her endorsements and her cut from the television show, Forbes pronounced her self-made billionaire.
Kylie Jenner, the youngest member of the Kardashian clan’s chief moneymaker, has been on camera since age 9 as part of the hit reality television show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, generated an estimated $360m in sales last year and reached the milestone earlier than Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg who became a billionaire aged 23.
Miss Jenner said “ I didn’t expect anything. I did not foresee the future. The feeling is really good as it is a nice pat on the back.” Last year Miss Jenner said: ” people do not take me seriously as a businesswoman because of my age and my reputation. But I feel they are starting to. I like to prove people wrong”.
Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos remains the world’s richest man with a fortune of $131bn up $19bn from 2018 according to Forbes and the combine billionaires worth is down from $9.1 trillion at £6.6bn ($8.7tn).
