Liz Truss says the UK is doing more to protect people from the energy crisis than any country in Europe
Liz Truss says free democracies need strong economies and she will ”not allow the anti-growth coalition to hold us back. This is made up of Labour, the Lib Dems, the SNP, the militant unions, the vested interested dressed up as think talks, the talking heads, and the Brexit deniers. Extinction Rebellion and some of the people we had in the hall earlier. ”
Truss says she U-turned on the 45p tax issue because it had become a distraction and she says she and the chancellor are “in lockstep” on monetary policy.
Truss in her speech says the UK became too dependent on Russia for cheap energy, so will open more gas fields in the North sea, and generate more nuclear power. She will beef up the UK’s Border Force and expand the Rwanda scheme. “The brave Ukrainian people aren’t just fighting for their security but for all our security. This is a fight for freedom and democracy – before saying that Putin’s annexations subvert democracy. Ukrainian can, must, and will win”.
