London Art Fair Islington 16-20 January 2019 – A host of works to feast your eyes on and also to add to your collection.

This Art Fair puts London on the map right at the beginning of the year with an impressive array of work to appeal to every taste and covering more than two floors of the spacious Business Design Centre on Upper Street Islington. The art is from the twentieth century to present day and you will see Matisse and Picasso amongst other celebrated artists along with a hugely substantial array of some of the most sought after works on the planet which are much more contemporary.

The following opening times apply:-

Today (Wednesday 16) 11-9

Thursday 11-9, Friday 11-7, Saturday 11-7.30 and Sunday 11-5. Ticket prices vary and concessions are offered but range roughly between 16 and 21 pounds. Check londonartfair.co.uk/tickets.

Showcasing impressive fresh contemporary art is Arts Projects with contemporary art from worldwide sources. This is the 15th edition covering 33 galleries from 11 countries.

Photo 50 showcases photography and this year it explores notions of the “family” – with fundamental notions of its dynamics in modern life.

A brand new section of the Fair is Platform exploring the wide range of work created in ceramics, promoting famous names and new emerging makers including work shown by galleries like Sylvia Powell, Thrown and Zuleika. There are other notable ceramics across the fair.

Mediums used for artwork includes aluminium, painting and printing using recycled coffee grounds made into a wash, clear varnishes, recycled chocolate sweets papers made into tiny goblets and inserted into colourful rows amounting to hundreds, artworks made using electric lighting as a medium, together with the more traditional canvasses, art paper, and sculptures in clay or bronze. There is truly something to appeal to everyone there. You will find art which is influenced by other art – such as Mondrian inspired work or Daliesque sculptures in two media. Works influenced by Banksy also can be found. The Connor brothers witty work is also there.

There is a Dialogues activity involving artists from Latin America and Europe. Pairs of galleries are invited to display their artists in conversation with each other.

If you have the time go along and grab a ticket. Nearest tube is Angel on the Northern Line and it’s a short walk from there at 52 Upper Street. Whats stopping you?

ENJOY
