London Notting Hill Carnival
Over a million revellers turned up at West London over the 59th edition of Bank Holiday Notting Hill Carnival, the world’s second biggest after Rio de Janeiro’s and the largest in Europe to watch Steel drums , dancers and Brazilian music.
The London Notting Hill Carnival fell silent for 72 seconds to pay their respect to the 72 victims of Grenfell Tower fire. Musicians set down their guitars and steel drums and sound systems were turned off briefly to honour those who died in the blaze last year.
The carnival kicked off with J’ouvert, when early risers dance to the music and cover each other in colour flour, oil and paints.
A big crowd of glittering masquerade partying with Mangrove Mas Float one if the 100 masquerade, steel or Brazilian groups set to parade outside the Tabernacle pub in West London with lot of music and songs from Trinidad and Grenada. In Portobello Road people huddled together under the flyover enjoying the street food and music.
The event was policed by the highest number of officers in six years, with over 7, 000 officers deployed and they made 133 arrests.
