Man rides away with Harley Davidson bike
Do you have an insatiable craze for super-expensive bikes? but does the size of your purse discourage you from having any dreams let alone serious thoughts of owning one and would you rather not want to bother yourself with big EMIs every month? Then most people would either put off this idea of owning one or make elaborate plans to save money for realizing their dream; but not this man from the Indian city of Hyderabad who chose to try a different method. In a con incident resembling a scene straight out of a Bollywood flick, a techie who was in his thirties walked in to a Harley-Davidson bike showroom in a posh locality in Hyderabad last week and asked for a test drive of one of their bikes. He identified himself as Tahir Ali and submitted fake id and documents to the showroom staff. The unsuspecting staff allowed him to leave the premises with a 750 cc bike (a Harley- Davidson Street 750model) after which he reportedly disappeared in to the busy Hyderabad traffic. It was only after quite a while that the still hopeful and waiting staff realized that they had just been conned and this they confirmed after trying to contact him through the documents that he had submitted before taking the test drive.
The Staff immediately contacted the city Police to trace the man, but our techie friend had other plans. By the time the police started to look out for him, the techie was well on his way to Mumbai which is around 700 kilometers away, enjoying a leisurely highway drive on his recently realized dream! Based on CCTV footage obtained from the showroom and other clues which includes the monstrous bike itself – as it happens, Harley Davidsons have not yet become such common sights on Indian roads, the police were able to identify the shop from where our friend had the thoughtfulness to purchase a Helmet for his long ride ahead. They were then able to trace his journey to Mumbai and finally arrested him there; Preliminary investigations revealed that this name was Kiran and that he worked in a Government organization in Mumbai.
Meanwhile the feverishly active Indian news television channels were abuzz with the story and images retrieved from CCTV footage. He was then brought back to Hyderabad for further investigations and legal proceedings, to be initiated against him by the Police.
