Marmite is not my mate -TESCO
Tesco, One of the biggest Britain’ s supermarkets stopped restocking Unilever products in a row over price, amid Brexit price row. Tesco has dug its heel in a standoff with Unilever, which owns brands like PG Tips, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Persil and Marmite after the company demanded price rises of 10 per cent, blaming the falling value of the pound.
Unilever which recently posted more than £2bn profit is understood to have stopped deliveries to Tesco branches, contributing to product shortages of mayonnaise, Marmite, toothpaste and soap.
Conservative MPs have last night accused Unilever of profiteering and “exploiting consumers” in the aftermath of Brexit vote. Unilever who campaigned against Britain’s exit from the European Union and failed, is using Brexit as an excuse.
A Tory minister said “ this is really quite reprehensible, they should not be taking advantage in this way”.
