Maya remains discovered in Mexico
Archaeologists exploring the Puyil Cave, in Tabcotalpa municipality of Tabasco state in Southern Mexico, found three Maya skeletons belonging to a civilisation once dominant but mysteriously abandoned its cities around 900 AD.
One of the skeletons dates back about 7000 years and the other two 4000 years.
According to Albert Martos an archaeologist “ In prehistoric times, the skeletons were probably used for rituals and cemeteries so as to dispose of remains of people. The Maya was one of the most dominant civilisations in Mesoamerica and they built cities with enormous stone pyramids in Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.
