Messi wins the World’s best player Ballon d’Or award
Argentine Lionel Messi, Barcelona forward, has won the Ballon d’Or award for the world’s best player for the fifth time with 41.33% of vote eclipsing both Ral Madrid forward Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo 27.76 % and Barca’s Brazilian Neymar 7.86% .
United States midfielder Carli Lloyd, who scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final last year won the Women’s award.
USA coach Jill Ellis beat England coach Mark Sampson and won the Women’s football coach of the year award.
Messi in 2015 played 61 games and scored 52 goals and 26 assists, which accounts a goal in every 101 minutes and assist in every 202 minutes. He was also directly involved in 49 goals in La Liga 34 scored and 15 assists and was the joint-most with Ronaldo in 2015 across five top European leagues.
“It’s a very special moment for me to be back here on this stage, winning another Ballon d’Or after seeing Cristiano Ronaldo win it twice in a row” Messi said.
