Mumbai Indians won by 1 run and wins IPL 2017, 10th edition.
This is the first ever IPL final which came down to the last ball. Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat. Krunal Pandya’s knock of 47 was his best of the season.
Mitchell Johnson bowled to Daniel Christian with Pune needing four to win. Bowling from around the wicket, Johnson went full and straight as Christian whipped it away to the right of deep square leg. Krunal Pandya fumbled at the boundary, allowing a second run as Pune need four to win, three to tie and two to lose the match and title. Jasprit Bumrah came to bowl in the 16th over and claimed the prize wicket of MS Dhoni to set up a thrilling finish, as somehow, Pune could only mange a chase of 130 to the last ball. Steve Smith’s 51 and Rahane’s 47 were in vain. Pune scored 50 runs in 52 balls , 8.4 overs and scored 100 in 100 balls, 16.4 overs, while Mumbai’s 50 came in 54 balls, 8.6 overs and 100 in 106 balls, 17.4 overs.
