Military plane crash kills 141 in Indonesia
A major rescue operation is under way after military transport C-130 Hercules plane, which took off from Polonia airport with 12 crew members and 101 passengers on board crashed in a residential area of Medan in Indonesia.
141 people were killed instantly. The crash site is still engulfed in flames and thick black plumes of smoke from the fuselage. 66 bodies recovered. The Hercules hit two houses and a hotel before bursting into flames.
In September 2005 a Boeing 737 crashed in the same city killing 143 on board and 30 on ground.
