Mini balls in USA save water supplies
Twenty Thousand black shade balls were splashed into the water in a 175-acre reservoir in a Los Angeles Reservoir to save water and comply with US environmental regulations on safe drinking water, and culmination of an initiative involving deployment of 96 million plastic balls at a cost of £22.43 million,$34.5million to protect the water supply
The weighted plastic balls will protect against chemical reactions which regularly are affected by sunshine, such as algae and they also prevent water evaporating in the drought hit area.
The Mayor for the area Eric Garcetti said , ” These balls will conserve 300 million gallons of water each year, instead of just evaporating into the sky”.
“In the midst of California’s historic drought, it takes bold ingenuity to maximize my goals for water conservation,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who helped release the balls. “This effort by LADWP is emblematic of the kind of the creative thinking we need to meet those challenges.”
