BBC’s new £1.04bn refurbishment with glass ceiling  is all but visible, which induces a sense of drama and urgency into the building and extending its HQ in Upper Regent Street, central London,  has a sewage problem according to staff, as foul drains smell is spreading across the floor of the Broadcasting House, through its vast pillars, spiralling staircases, red and orange painted lift shafts,  even moving from makeup room to newsroom.

According to Pest control experts, Rentokil cities provided “natural places for rodents to seek shelter, food and water”.

Earlier this month a fat mouse “pestilences, miasmas” was strolling around the BBC Woman’s Hour office. “ If you want to avoid our city being overrun by rats we need a co-ordinated approach to tackle this problem, led by the mayor”.

London councils receive over 100 rat and mouse complaints every day.
