Murderer Thomas Mair gets life for killing MP Jo Cox
Far right killer Thomas Mair got a life sentence for shooting and stabbing MP Jo Cox outside Birstall Library, West Yorkshire, resulting in her death, whilst shouting “Britain first”.
Jeremy Corbyn noted the outpouring of love which had resulted in the aftermath of the incident. Corbyn also noted Jo – a brilliant and talented MP, will always be remembered as someone who laid down her life for democratic people.
Jo Cox’s family were in court to hear the verdict at The Old Bailey. Judge Mr Justice Wilkie underlined what a wonderful person, mother and wife she was. Her husband described the murder as an “act of terrorism” but noted that it had created an outpouring of love. Jo’s sister noted the acts of bravery of people who tried to help Jo and delivered a carefully written speech to the media.
