Novak Djokovic wins Shanghai Masters by beating Coratia’s 21-year-old Borna Coric in the final to claim his fourth Shanghai title.
The second seeded Serb Djokovic, 31, has won 18 consecutive matches since losing at the Rogers Cup on 10 August, and will replace Roger Federer as world number two on Monday. The 14-time Grand Slam champion sailed through the first set, dropping just four points on his serve. However, Coric, 13th seed recovered from 3-0 down in the second to ern a break point 3-2 before saving three championship points to break Djokovic and make it 5-4. But Djokovic won his 26th straight set to clinch the fourth title of 2018 and go just 35 points behind Rafael Nadal in the ATP Race for London.
