New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat, with Martin Guptill hitting the first ball of the Super 10s for a straight six and Corey Anderson scored 34 runs off 42 balls. R Ashwin struck in the first over of the match and Jasprit Burmah took 15-1. Suresh Raina instigated a superb run-out to dismiss Ross Taylor for 10 and had Williamson stumped for 8.
Raina came in the third over and offered a simple catch to midwicket, and Yuvraj Singh gave a return catch to McCullum as four of the India’s top five were dismissed ffor single-digits. New Zealand three spinners Nathan McCullum, Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi. were unplayable as they ripped past the outside edge and India did not have an answer. India came into the tournament on a seven-match winning streak.
