Om Puri Indian veteran actor dies at 66
Om Puri, OBE, and recipient of Padma Shri award winner, a versatile actor known for his roles in Hollywood, British, Indian and Pakistani films died of a heart attack at his residence in Mumbai early Friday 6th January 2106.
His illustrious film career spanning four decades in which he acted in both mainstream and art films, and the star of British hit East is East, and several British films, including Richard Attenborough’s epic on Mahatma Gandhi and City of Joy and The Hundred Foot Journey. He did films with stars such as Jack Nicolson and Tom Hanks.
He was born on October 18, 1950, in Ambala, Haryana, made his film debut in 1976 with the Marathi film “Ghashiram Kotwal”.
