Patent Suit dropped against Tesla
Nikola, an American electric-car start up company and pioneer in zero-emission trucks, offering pure electric and also hydrogen electric power across multiple who has delivered its first two vehicles to a customer operating at the ports of Loa Angeles and Long Beach, has dropped its US $2 billion suit against Tesla. The lawsuit filed in 2018, which accused Tesla of copying several designs for its Semi-truck, including a wraparound windshield. Nikola’s founder and former CEO has been indicted on multiple counts of fraud charges which he denies stalling the case.
The BEV is an electric semi with a claimed 350 miles of range via a 753.0kwh battery.
The patents are about simple design features, like a mid-entry door, the general shape of the fuselage and the windshield wrapping around the cabin. Hindenburg Research made several allegations exposing deception by Nikola and its founder Trevor Milton. In July, Milton was officially charged with three counts of criminal fraud over false claims he made about the company,
The most damning claim was that it faked the first video of its hydrogen truck driving, although the company admitted to it, without issuing an apology.
In a new joint filing in federal court this week, Nikola agreed to drop the $2billion lawsuit and Tesla dropped the counterclaims it made against Nikola.
Tesla first unveiled its Semi-Truck in 2017, but launch was delayed until this year.
