Petropolis : 100 people have died in landslides and flash flooding
Petropolis, located in the mountains north of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, was hit by landslides and flash flooding which killed more than 100 people.
Houses on the hillside neighbourhoods were destroyed as cars were swept away by racing floodwaters through the city’s streets.
Brazil’s National Civil Defence said that 24 people had been rescued alive by Wednesday night.
Still, more than 30 people are reported missing, and search and rescue efforts would continue non-stop according to Rio de Janeiro Governor Claudio Castro.
