Platinum Jubilee Celebrations day 4
The
Queen greets crowds on the Mall from the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside Prince Charles and Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their children for the finale of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations. A pageant which took two and half hours to travel 1.8 miles (3 km ) against the backdrop of the Palace involving 10, 000 people including the military, performers and key workers moving down London’s Mall and past the Palace. The parade’s finale also featured Ed Sheeran singing the national anthem. Over 85, 000 have been hosting Big Jubilee, with Prince Charles and Camilla joining a feast at the Oval cricket ground in South London.
Sir Cliff Richard says it feels like an honour to be around the Royal Family, decades after first doing so, “Every time you have to be with royalty, all those moments are great because all these years later, it still feels like the grandest honour. Where else in the world can you get a chance to do something like this?”. Supermodel Naomi Campbell, who appeared in the parade 1990s-themed open-top bus says she is “so honoured to be here today. It has been a great and amazing day, to salute the Queen who has given herself selflessly to this nation and the world and the Commonwealth.”
The Red Arrows didn’t make it, because of the weather, but the 96-year-old monarch made it at the end of the pageant. The parade had been a cocktail of music, puppets, dancers, classic cars and even older celebrities.
