Plucked from obscurity to Bollywood star
Banita Sandhu, a 20-year-old from South Wales studying English literature student at Kings College London, is all set to make her Bollywood debut in Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming project October. This is the first time that a mainstream actress from Wales will feature in a Bollywood film. She will be co-starring Varun Dhawan, in a Bollywood movie which revolves around the beautiful journey of love, life and relationship the hero is on a quest to find a girl was in love with him during college days.
“I wanted to cast someone absolutely fresh for this film. So when I met Banita, I saw someone who was very intelligent, her eyes were really expressive, and she didn’t have to do too much to express, she did very little and it expressed a lot and that I would call acting. I felt in my gut and instinct that she was right. There is maturity in her in terms of thinking and I thought she is right for the role and when you will see the film, you will know. Just like Piku, you can’t think of anyone other than Deepika as PIku, it is the same with her.” Shoojit Sircar said. The film is written by Juhi Chaturvedi and produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar under Rising Sun films banner and schedule to release on April 13.
