Police chased car believed to contain Charlie Hebdo suspects brothers Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi over killing of 12 people and injuring 11 in Wednesday’s attack on the office of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical magazine which freely mocks religion. Police have surround the building in Dammartin-en-Goele, 35km (22 miles) north-east of Paris.
Shots were fired and several people are said to have been wounded as events unfolded in Dammartin-en-Goele, this development comes nearly 48 hours after the attack. Armed police have flooded the area. Charlie Hebdo suspects are also holding a hostage. The Islamist militants are inside a small printing business and have reportedly said they are prepared to die.
The unprecedented worst attack in the past 50 years shocked France and there has been an outpouring of sympathy and solidarity worldwide.
