Possibly unique first in GB:- birth of four babies all from individual eggs.
Here are quadruplets Roman and Aston (in blue), and Sofia and Amelia (in pink) – quads all born from a different egg in the same womb and naturally conceived in the UK. Scientists say four children, or non-identical quads without IVF treatment is rarely if ever heard of in this part of the world.
The sonographer who scanned mother Miss Martin, took several extra minutes to make sure that the four babies were all recorded as well and in the womb. Miss Martin – who has a child from a previous relationship, as does the father of the new quads, was in tears of surprise and joy when she heard the news.
The four brothers and sisters were born after a Caesarian in February 2015, and mother Miss Martin was given help by Helping Hands project run by the Twins and Multiple Births Association (Tamba).
Statistics say that the odds of natural quads are around 700,000 to 1. Helen Turier of Tamba said “It’s incredible”! The Saturn Herald wishes the whole bigger family well with their future together.
