Shoppers abandon food at the self check-outs as they still have not worked out all the jiggery pokery they need to master to calmly scan their goods and bag them up.  Funny that as a lot of these people think they’re clever – so why is it happening? Some people when they go out shopping have a blinkered approach to technology and when they find it doesn’t respond they simply panic and leave unscanned items around, especially when the store is very busy.  A poll of 2,481 shoppers found a third of them tend to abandon at least 3 items worth a total of £2.34p.

Staff put the items back on the shelves generally and a discount website – vouchercloud.com identified part of the problem is understaffing. Head of operations, Chris Johnson said more money should be invested into research and developing faster tills.  One  academic graduate young lady shopper said, “I have heard that in the future, the whole trolley will be scanned as one, and then hey presto – you have your shopping done and ready to bag up”.  Of course that is still in the mix of the technical whizzes who create the automated tills – together with the oh so syrupy voices. So get tecchie shoppers and don’t leave your baked beans or caviar behind!!  Bon appetit!
