Mumbai Indians won by 8 runs
Mumbai Indians, placed second from bottom, did extremely well to beat the team second from top.
Earlier Mumbai Indians posted 187/5, thanks to a late surge from Ambati Rayudu 53 off 27 and Kieron Pollard. The Mumbai innings started well but lost it’s way in the middle but Rayudu took the game to the Royals and got Mumbai past 150. They batted very well, particularly in the slog overs, did lose their nerve with the ball as Malinga and McClenaghan bowled accurate lines and took critical wickets at crucial times. Sanju Samson’s magnificent effort with the bat all went in vain. He targeted the gaps, played all around the ground and unleashed audacious shots against a strong bowling line-up.
