England hit the second highest successful chase in T20 internationals and the highest in World T20 history to keep their hopes alive. They chased down 230, after a blistering start from Jason Roy  and  aggressive Joe Root ripped South Africa’s attack.

Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy although all scored half-centuries their efforts were all in vain. Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali left South Africa run famine between overs 10 and 13 in which they could only score just 14 runs and could not find any boundary. They were cruising at 125 for 2 previously and after that 139 for 3 and the fact that they could not reach 250. England’s aim  to aggressively attack the first four overs  from the first ball. Jason Roy Swung at Kagiso Rabada and took 21 runs of the first over. Alex Hale also treated Dale Steyn with equal aggression as he sent first three balls for four and flicks on the leg side as England were 44 runs after two overs the most runs off 12 balls in a T20. England Scored 42 runs in three overs when Morris bowled short balls, Root and Jos Buttler decided to take on Duminy and Steyn. So after 13 overs England were 160 for4 and required rate of not more than 10 runs per over. Joe Root scored his slowest and a careful half century of the night. At the end South Africa scored 90 runs off the last seven overs against England, it was not enough.
