Savannah cat roaming around back garden
An exotic pet cat was spotted in the back garden in Winnington Road, East Finchley, north London triggered an alarm and sparked an armed police response.
Scotland Yard said firearms officers and animal expert went sent to the scene to assess the threat posed by the leopard-spotted interloper a rare Savannah breed.
After it was deemed sae the cat ran off although the owner has yet to be identified.
The Met officers said a resident’s garden was sealed off while the animal espert assessed whether the beast was a danger to the public at 21:00 BST on Monday to Winnington Raod, dubbed “billionaire’s row” on account of the high property prices.
Savannah cats are a cross between a domestic cat and a serval wild African cat are legal to own in the UK.
