Self-lighting cigarettes another invention
Smokers often has a cigarette but no match to light it. After eight years of tests, Cigamatic, a Marseille company set up by entrepreneur Charli Abisdid, has come up with a safe and more effective self-lighting cigarette invention.
The technology involves the smoker breaking off a capsule fitted to the inhalation end of the cigarette. Pressing it into the other end triggers the release of chemical that ignite the cigarette and the capsule can be discarded. The chemicals contents are commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry, and do not react with tobacco and complies with European Safety Standards according to Cigmatic. As this is chemical reaction and does not involve fireworks or explosive reaction.
Majority of the legal smoking tobacco an cigarette sales are still growing worldwide especially in Asia and the Middle East.
Cigamatic aims to license the technology, which has been patented in 83 countries worldwide, to cigarette manufacturers. It is also focusing on Chinese manufacturers as China accounts for 30 per cent of the world’s tobacco consumption.
Many smokers would be prepared to pay extra for a self-igniting cigarette, because they often do not have lighters or matches.
Ban on smoking in cars with children making it illegal to smoke in a vehicle with anyone under the age of 18 present, in England and Wales came to effect from 1 October 2015.
