Siberian shopping mall fire kills 53
53 people including 41 children have died in a fire that engulfed the shopping and entertainment complex in the Siberian coal-mining city of Kemerovo, 2, 200 miles east of Moscow at 17:00 (10:00GMT). A further 15 are reported to be missing. The blaze started on an upper floor of the Winter Cherry Complex, while many children were at the cinema. Video posted on social media showed people jumping from windows to escape the flames on Sunday.
Two roofs have collapsed in the multiplex cinemas the cause of the fire is still being investigated. 660 emergency personnel were deployed in the fire rescue and had to tackle the blaze for 17 hours.
Four people including the head of the company that manages the shopping centre and the owner of the Winter Cherry Complex is thought to be among those detained for questioning.
