Sinabung Volcano erupts

vol

The Mount Sinabung volcano erupted on Thursday afternoon 2nd July 2015, in the Indonesia’s north Sumatra province, spewing columns of smoke 1 .25 miles two kilometers in to the sky. The volcano continues to extrude viscous lava that periodically generates glowing avalanches and pyroclastic flows as the volcano remains at the highest alert level four out of four.

A series of Pyroclastic flows occurred yesterday, reaching lengths upto 3miles ( 5km). Lava domes are pile ups of  magna near the vent at the top of a volcano that has been known to collapse and flow down the mountain sides at lightning  speed.

Jet star has cancelled flights in and out of Bali as the ash cloud from the volcanic eruption from Indonesia is drifting towards Denpasar International airport.

Return flights to and from Cairns, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney and one way flight to and from Singapore, Adelaide, Darwin are affected.

Thousands of people living close the Mount Sinabung volcano are forced to flee their homes.
