Singapore Airline emergency landing engine fire but 222 passengers and 19 crew safe
Singapore Airline Boeing 777-300ER, SQ 368, Milan-bound had to turn back about two hours into the flight from Changi Airport following an engine oil warning message, and as it made an emergency landing at 6:50am on 27th June 2016, at the City’s main airport on Monday, plumes of smoke billowing from the aircraft. According to Singapore Airlines spokesman “After reaching Changi Airport following an engine oil alert the plane was on an emergency landing, the engine burst into flames. 19 crew on board and 222 passengers were not injured as the right wing was ablaze before the view was completely obscured by foam as firefighters battled the fire and managed to put out the fire.”
Relieved passengers disembarked through stairs and were transported to the terminal building by bus. Passengers were eventually transferred to another flight that left for Milan at 10:30am Singapore time.
