Snake boat race of Aranmula

Aranmula Uthrittathi Vallamkali, Snake boat regatta of Kerala, took place  during the Onam festival. Palliyodams (snake boats) 103 feet long,  with 4 helmsmen 100 rowers and moved in pairs with singing voice Vanchyppattu from the 25 oarsmen singers wearing white mundu and turban, with crowd cheering their favourite team from the banks of the river. Palliyodams from 50 villages took part in this Vallamkali ( boat race). Mallappuzhassery and Tahimaravumkara Palliyodams bagged the Mannan Trophy which took place on Saturday 17^th September 2016.
